HBAA (with help from Santa!) Provides Holiday Gifts and Entertainment to Local Students

Posted on December 30, 2013 by Manuel Escobar

The Hispanic Bar Association of Austin sponsored its 22nd Annual Kids Holiday Party for thirty children in ten different families that participate in the Communities in Schools program through the Travis County Youth and Family Assessment Center.   Thanks to the generosity of numerous HBAA members who sponsor a child for Christmas, we provided gifts for each of the children from their “wish list.”

Santa was on hand to hand out the presents and the families were entertained once again by magician Gusto the Great and sang carols led by the staff of YFAC/CIS.     The kids and parents really enjoyed themselves – eating plenty of pizza and cake, taking pictures with Santa and opening their presents and goody bags!   All of the YFAC/CIS staff and HBAA members present had a great time too!

A big thanks to our sponsors: HENDLERLAW PC for providing the Gatti’s Pizza and $50 HEB Gift Cards for each of the 10 families; HBAA member Jana Ortega for providing the goody bags; and HBAA members Gavin Villarreal, Patrick Caballero and Irene Montelongo for contributing towards the costs of the party.  Thanks also to the Austin Bar Association for providing their CLE Conference Room and parking passes for the families, to all HBAA members who sponsored a child, and to Gatti’s Pizza for providing a discounted price for their pizzas every year.  Finally, thanks to the many volunteers who helped set up, to Russell Ramirez reprising his role as Santa and making his usual special appearance at the party, and to Lulu Flores for coordinating this event every year!

A few pictures from the event are below.  See you next year!
